A sketch of the majestic flight of a great and rare sea-bird in music which is mostly slow, though rising to scalic runs of great brilliance and flexibility. For solo horn. SEA EAGLE takes its name from a rare and magnificent bird, and the music, unaccompanied and austere, is meant to evoke something of its high loneliness. There are three movements of great virtuosity, with ever-transforming melodic contours underpinned by unvarying motifs.
