This composer was born in Halle (now Germany) in 1685, but at the age of 42 he obtained English citizenship and settled permanently in London. Although he did not come from a family with musical traditions, he was a young talent whose teacher was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, teaching the boy to play the harpsichord and organ.
And so, after a sultry and stormy summer, autumn finally stepped onto the stage. It entered, as it does, with a long, gliding step, billowing the cloak of colorful leaves, humming mournful melodies under its breath – a harbinger of winter's darkness. The overture of autumn is a carnival of colors and lights...
The overture has come to an end, the curtain rises, and we hear a bright, feminine voice, drawing strength from a character whose costume is meant to give us an image of the hero.

The overture from the opera William Tell, composed by Gioachino Rossini, is one of the most famous musical works in the world. Rossini was an Italian composer of the classical and romantic periods, born in 1792. His body of work includes many operas, symphonic pieces, and chamber music. The opera William Tell is based on the play by Friedrich Schiller of the same name. The action of the opera takes place in Switzerland during the struggle for independence in the 13th century. The overture serves as an excellent introduction to the opera, full of powerful musical themes that convey the drama and pathos of this story. In the presented recording, we have an arrangement of the piece for violin, interpreted by Michał Jelonek. Jelonek is a Polish musician who gained popularity as a violinist and rock composer. His version of the overture from the opera William Tell is incredibly dynamic and full of energy, perfectly capturing the atmosphere of the piece. It is worth noting that the recording, although made earlier, has better sound quality than the concert version from this year's Krakow Juwenalia. Thanks to this, we can appreciate the subtleties of the arrangement and Jelonek's virtuosic skills even more. The overture from the opera William Tell is a masterpiece of classical music that continues to captivate listeners around the world. This spectacular piece remains relevant and inspiring, conveying deep emotions and unforgettable moments of musical beauty.
I love listening to this kind of music! This overture from the opera William Tell is simply a masterpiece. Michał Jelonek gives his all on the violin. I am impressed by his talent and passion. It's amazing that I could hear this live at the juwenalia in Krakow. But the recording is equally wonderful. I keep discovering new nuances in this music. A big bow to Rossini and Jelonek for this wonderful interpretation. I am looking forward to more such pieces!
