This composer was born in Halle (now Germany) in 1685, but at the age of 42 he obtained English citizenship and settled permanently in London. Although he did not come from a family with musical traditions, he was a young talent whose teacher was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, teaching the boy to play the harpsichord and organ.
And so, after a sultry and stormy summer, autumn finally stepped onto the stage. It entered, as it does, with a long, gliding step, billowing the cloak of colorful leaves, humming mournful melodies under its breath – a harbinger of winter's darkness. The overture of autumn is a carnival of colors and lights...
The overture has come to an end, the curtain rises, and we hear a bright, feminine voice, drawing strength from a character whose costume is meant to give us an image of the hero.

I love listening to this kind of music! This overture from the opera William Tell is simply a masterpiece. Michał Jelonek gives his all on the violin. I am impressed by his talent and passion. It's amazing that I could hear this live at the juwenalia in Krakow. But the recording is equally wonderful. I keep discovering new nuances in this music. A big bow to Rossini and Jelonek for this wonderful interpretation. I am looking forward to more such pieces!
