Richard Galliano is a French accordionist and composer, who is one of the most important representatives of nuevo tango, a modern variant of Argentine tango. Born in 1950 in Cannes, Galliano quickly gained recognition as a virtuoso accordionist, blending elements of jazz, European classical music, and traditional tango. "Tango Pour Claude" is one of Galliano's most famous compositions, in which all these elements come together perfectly. The piece was recorded in a duet with Das Kleine Wien Trio, a Polish ensemble consisting of Jacek Obstarczyk (piano, arrangement), Krzysztof Kokoszewski, and Jacek Stolarczyk (violin). Galliano's music fits into the nuevo tango movement, which emerged in the 1980s and contributed to the renewal and development of Argentine tango.
