A wind instrument with six holes similar to a simple flute, also known in Poland as the "Polish fletik". The instrument originates from 16th century France, with various variations also from England and Germany. In the 18th and 14th centuries, it gained immense popularity in our country.
The harp is probably the oldest plucked instrument that could have existed as early as 3000 BC. Already in Ancient Greece and Rome, it was an instrument of incredible fame.

This small and seemingly inconspicuous device is a product of master craftsmanship, made of wood and horsehair, and maintaining it in excellent condition is an art that master luthiers possess perfectly. The bow dates back to very ancient times and has its roots in antiquity. When exactly the bow began to be used in playing string instruments is hard to say, but certainly, its presence is noticeable in paintings and records from the 16th century. It is important to understand that the bow is not only a tool for producing sound but also a medium of expression for the artist. Depending on the technique of holding the bow, speed, and pressure, various sound effects can be achieved, such as legato, martellato, tremolo, or staccato. It is also worth noting that the string instrument is not limited only to violins. Many composers, such as Beethoven, Brahms, or Dvořák, successfully used bows in their orchestral works, giving them a unique character and sound. In the upcoming episodes of the program "From String to Music - What is this instrument?", we will surely discover even more interesting facts about the bow and its role in music. I am glad that a channel like "Secrets of Music and Strings" dedicates attention to this important element of music and allows us to get to know it better. This is a great video! A very interesting topic - we learn about musical instruments and how sounds are produced from them. I like listening to music, but I never had any idea how many types of instruments exist! Thanks to this film, I was able to see and hear different string instruments and learn their names. Everything was presented in an accessible way, which made it easier for me to understand. I must admit that I am impressed by the skills of the people playing these instruments.
