On Saturday, March 23, 2019, the CIX concert from the series "Great Music in the Small Hall" organized by the Warsaw University of Technology took place. Although the concert was held in the Large Hall of the Polytechnic, the concert series retained its name for historical reasons.
"Every private has a marshal's baton in his backpack and thinks he will be a general. I knew immediately what I wrote in 1976 and now I know too," said Henryk Mikołaj Górecki about his III Symphony - "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" in 1993. Today, almost a year after the composer's death, during a concert at the Wratislavia Cantans festival, we have the opportunity to recall one of the most important musical works of the second half of the 20th century.
Yesterday (11.05) we joyfully watched the final of the Eurovision Contest for Young Musicians, which took place on a special stage under the Town Hall in the Austrian capital. The live concert was attended by around 40,000 people, including fans of our wonderful flutist Jagoda Krzemińska...

Ney Rosauro is a Brazilian composer who gained international fame thanks to his works focused primarily on percussion instruments. His concerto for marimba is one of the most well-known and valued pieces in this genre. The marimba, the main instrument in this concerto, is a type of percussion keyboard made from wooden vibraphones, with larger ones placed closer to the musician and smaller ones further away. The sounds produced by this instrument have a warm character and offer a wide range of musical expression. It is also worth mentioning the performer, Evelyn Glennie, who is an exceptional artist not only because of her musical skills but also due to her hearing difficulties. Since the age of twelve, Glennie has been completely deaf, which adds to her extraordinary determination and strength to carve new paths as a percussionist and soloist. Her talent and passion for music are remarkable and inspiring for everyone. Ney Rosauro's concerto for marimba is a demanding and beautiful musical work that allows listeners to journey through various styles and musical eras. The composer masterfully utilizes the marimba to create an extraordinary palette of sounds, evoking incredible emotions and memorable melodies. This wonderful combination of compositional genius, performance skills, and the extraordinary spirit of the artist makes this performance remarkable and admirable. It is undoubtedly a piece worth getting to know and appreciate, both for classical music lovers and for those who want to immerse themselves in the world of the extraordinary sound of the marimba.
This video is amazing! Ney Rosauro is an absolute master on the marimba, and his concert is a manifestation of extraordinary technique and passion for music. But what really impressed me is the fact that Evelyn Glennie, who has been deaf since the age of twelve, also plays this instrument! This is proof that there are no barriers that could stop us from achieving our dreams. It inspires me and gives hope that in every area of life we can overcome adversity and achieve great things. Thank you Ney and Evelyn for your incredible talents and for showing us that in music there are no limits! #Motivation #Inspiration #Music
