"Night on Bald Mountain" is one of the most famous works of Modest Mussorgsky, a Russian composer and pianist. It was created in 1867 and is part of a cycle based on themes from Russian mythology and folklore. This masterpiece represents an unparalleled combination of music and literature, telling the story of a magical night on the mountain, where a wild dance of witches and demons takes place. Mussorgsky was a key figure in the Russian musical school of the 19th century, and his music was often inspired by Russian traditions and customs. "Night on Bald Mountain" is an excellent example of how the composer combined elements of Russian folk music with a more traditional style of composition. Joseph Milo, the conductor of a well-known Canadian ensemble, led the performance of this fantastic composition at Salle Claude Champagne in Montreal in 2008. His interpretation captured the exceptional sound and incredible dynamics of the piece, fully conveying its power and intensity.
