Cast: S solo-0000-0000-archi
The latest composition by Mikołaj Górecki was commissioned by the Polish Music Publishing House. It is a four-movement work intended for a string orchestra and a solo voice (soprano). In the successive movements of the piece, fragments of poetry by Czesław Miłosz appear: in the first movement, the words of the poem "And if", the second movement is purely instrumental, in the third movement - a fragment from the poem "The Gardener", and in the climactic last movement - the poem "Radiant Clarity".
The character of the composition is very cheerful, optimistic, and contemplative. The piece stylistically falls within the realm of "new romanticism", and its harmony occasionally evokes American cinema from the 1930s.
Musical excerpts come from the dress rehearsal before the premiere of the work.
