Nine days of the festival have been planned with eleven concerts - chamber, symphonic, and multimedia. In connection with the 50th anniversary of the festival, the programmatic emphasis was placed primarily on premieres of works commissioned by the festival or proposed for premiere, especially from the Wrocław compositional environment, currently one of the most interesting in Poland.
Have you ever been to a concert where the audience rises from their seats with a huge applause and burst of joy in the middle? That's exactly what happened in Krynica Zdrój just after Artur Ruciński's performance of the aria 'Largo al factotum' during a gala organized by the 'Aria' Association from Krakow on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Jan Kiepura's death.

Passacalle, written by Luigi Rodolfo Boccherini, is one of the most famous works in the composer's repertoire. Boccherini, an Italian composer and cellist, was born in 1743 and became renowned for his beautiful, melodic compositions. His music is widely regarded as representative of the classical style. Passacalle is part of the suite "La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid" (Night Music of the Streets of Madrid), which was written around 1780 at the request of Prince Luigi. The piece is written for string quartet, consisting of two violins, viola, and cello, and reflects the characteristic sound of music from this period. Passacalle is an example of a musical form known as chaconne. A chaconne is a type of Baroque dance that is based on a recurring bass motif, especially in the form of chords. In the case of Passacalle, Boccherini fully utilizes this motif, creating a hypnotic and dynamic sound. Boccherini's music is known for its elegant tone and lyrical style. His melodic lines are rich and full of emotion, creating a beautiful contrast with the pulsating rhythm of the bass. Passacalle is an excellent example of this characteristic feature of the composer. The era in which Boccherini lived was the Enlightenment, characterized by a developed interest in science, philosophy, and the arts. In classical music of this period, there was a pursuit of formal and melodic perfection. Boccherini was one of the most important composers of this time, and his music is a perfect example of how instrumental virtuosity and emotional expression combine into a harmonious whole. Passacalle is an excellent example of Boccherini's creativity and delights with its beautiful melody and elegant form. This musical masterpiece is not only entertainment for listeners but also a testament to the genius and craftsmanship of the composer.
This piece is incredibly beautiful! It takes me to the magical streets of Madrid and makes me feel like I was just there. This is exactly what I needed today - a moment of respite from the daily madness. Boccherini's music is so subtle and delicate, yet full of passion and emotion. Discovering such classics is a true pleasure for me. May there be more of these magical moments!
