One of the three Viennese classics, a representative of late classicism Ludwig van Beethoven had a huge influence on Romantic music. Born in 1770 in Bonn, he had a difficult childhood. His father forcibly wanted to turn his son into a musical genius, so he enrolled him in piano lessons from an early age.
The word symphony comes from the Greek words syn- and phone, which the Greeks used to define concepts related to 'harmony'. Since the 18th century, this term began to be used in relation to a musical form mainly derived from the sonata, but also from the prelude, suite, and overture.
I first heard Fauré's Requiem when I was fourteen. At that time, my entire perception was focused on the creativity of one of the Viennese classics, the creator of the most famous mass of consolation - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Ludwig van Beethoven, regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of music, created many masterpieces that are still popular and performed all over the world today. One of them is the Fifth Symphony in C minor, which comes from the musical Romantic period. The video we watched is exceptional because it was performed in the form of SALSA! It is certainly an interesting interpretation of the piece, combining the classic with dynamic salsa rhythms, giving it a completely new character. The performance by Hovedøen Social Club & Kringkastingsorkesteret (KORK) under the baton of conductor Lars Erik Gudim is a perfect blend of a symphony orchestra and a salsa band. Sverre Indris Joner, responsible for the arrangement and playing the piano, beautifully conveys the emotions and energy of the piece. It is also worth noting the impressive skills of the instrumentalists, such as Carlos del Puerto on double bass, Eduardo Cedeño on congas, Tony Moreaux Charon on percussion, Jose Alberto Varona on trumpet, and Sergio Gonzalez on guiro. Their passion and virtuosity contribute to the exceptional sound of this performance. The Fifth Symphony in C minor is a work that is not only one of Beethoven's most recognizable pieces but also one of the most important symphonic works in the history of music. Its powerful main theme, known as the "Fate Motif," and dramatic structure make it a composition full of tension and emotion. The fact that this video was performed in a new form shows that classical music can still be relevant and attractive to various audiences. Thanks to this performance, Beethoven's symphony gains new life and reaches a wider audience. I congratulate the performers and the creators of the video for successfully combining classical music and salsa. Such a form of performance brings classical music closer to new audiences and shows that it is timeless.
This is absolutely amazing! I didn't expect Beethoven to sound so energetic. The combination of symphony with salsa is a very original and fresh concept. The performers gave it their all, and their musical skills are impressive. Everything harmonizes perfectly, the congas and trumpet add exceptional character. This interpretation definitely evokes emotions and makes you want to dance. It is a true work of art that is worth watching.
