Kasia Gacek-Duda is a talented flutist and multi-instrumentalist known for her fascinating project "The Kingdom of Beskid." In this project, Kasia presents the music of the Beskids in an unconventional way, combining flutes and violins. In her latest video material, Kasia takes us on a journey through sound, introducing us to the world of flutes from various cultures. What connects these different flutes, although they may seem distant from each other, is the beauty and simplicity of the sound that emanates from these instruments. Kasia talks about her love for recorders and the collection she possesses. Among them, we can find gems such as the dwojnica, Irish wooden flutes, transverse flutes, or North American Indian flutes, which were used by men to woo their chosen ones. However, despite her impressive collection, Kasia is still searching for her dream instrument - a wooden transverse flute with contemporary features, which is not yet present in Polish concert halls. In addition to her active concert activities and work in the recording studio, Kasia also runs a blog about flutes and is writing a doctoral thesis on imitating the sounds of ethnic instruments on the transverse flute. Her determination and passion for exploring music and instruments are commendable. In these times, when traveling is heavily restricted, the music of Kasia Gacek-Duda gives us the opportunity to discover and explore the world through the sounds of ethno-flutes. Her talent and commitment to creating new sounds and exploring different cultures are noteworthy and admirable. We hope that she will soon find her dream instrument and share it with the audience in Polish concert halls.
