The Polish Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum Gedanensis* belongs to the narrow circle of the world elite of fully professional chamber choirs. The ensemble founded in 1978 by Ireneusz Łukaszewski, has been under the direction and artistic leadership of Jan Łukaszewski since 1983.

Karol Szymanowski, a Polish composer and pianist, is one of the most important creators of classical music in the 20th century. His work "Harnasie" is an opera that was created as a result of inspiration from Highland music. Op. 55 is the catalog number of this composition, indicating its place in the artist's oeuvre. The presented performance mainly focuses on the concert version of "Harnasie", where a solo tenor, mixed choir, and orchestra perform on stage. The conductor of this piece is Marcin Nańcz-Niesiołowski, who interprets Szymanowski's music excellently. Adam Zdunikowski, embodying the role of the soloist, performs the tenor part with incredible expressiveness and emotional depth. His strong and pleasant voice immerses the listeners in the atmosphere of Highland spaces, transporting them along with the music into the unique world of Polish tradition. The Choir and Orchestra of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, under the baton of conductor Nańcz-Niesiołowski, perfectly capture the character of this work. Their joint interpretation, full of energy, passion, and commitment, captures attention and provides extraordinary experiences for the listeners. Violetta Bielecka, responsible for preparing the choir, deserves special recognition for her professionalism and precision in working with the ensemble. The performance of "Harnasie" at the European Center for Arts in Białystok is a wonderful example of musical art at the highest level. Karol Szymanowski has secured his place in history as one of the most important Polish composers, and this interpretation of his work perfectly reflects its character and beauty.
The performance of "Harnasie" by Karol Szymanowski is simply amazing! I love how the tenor Adam Zdunikowski's singing transports us to the mountains of Podhale, and his voice sounds so full of emotions. Conductor Marcin Nańcz-Niesiołowski perfectly sets the mood for the orchestra and choir, creating an extraordinary atmosphere for this work. Violetta Bielecka did a wonderful job preparing the choir - you can hear that they are really well-coordinated and perform their parts excellently. Overall, it makes you want to listen to this performance again and again! Kudos to all the performers and organizers of this concert!
