I first heard Fauré's Requiem when I was fourteen. At that time, my entire perception was focused on the creativity of one of the Viennese classics, the creator of the most famous mass of consolation - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
In the first notes of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Requiem" played by the symphony orchestra in Bydgoszcz under the baton of Bassem Akiki, a calmness and immense focus filled the concert hall, only to be soon filled with sounds spatially spreading from the speakers of the Opera Nova choir in Bydgoszcz, which was singing in the foyer. The sublime atmosphere that was created by the unconventional message of a specific prayer awakened our imagination, the sound of words from beyond intensified the authenticity of what the genius composed, hypnotizing our attention.

Józef Kozłowski was a Polish composer who lived in the 18th and 19th centuries. He was born in 1757 and died in 1831. Kozłowski is primarily known as a creator of church music, and his Requiem in E minor, Op. 14, is one of the most well-known works of this genre. The Requiem in E minor, Op. 14, was written for the death of Stanisław August Poniatowski. Poniatowski was the last king of Poland and died in 1798. Many artists dedicated their works to the deceased ruler, but Kozłowski achieved particular renown thanks to his Requiem. The form of the requiem is a combination of elements of the Catholic Mass with mourning motifs. Kozłowski mastered this form and created a work full of emotion and solemnity. His Requiem in E minor, Op. 14, includes both solo parts and choir. Kozłowski skillfully utilized the contrast between the soloists and the choir, giving the piece dramatic depth. The era in which Kozłowski created was the period of Classicism. It was a time when rigid form and symmetry dominated. However, Kozłowski showed that he could give his music a personal character by using contrapuntal combinations and rich harmonies. His Requiem in E minor, Op. 14, is an excellent example of classical composition that simultaneously possesses a unique and distinct personality. Józef Kozłowski was an outstanding musical talent of his time. His Requiem in E minor, Op. 14, is a valuable legacy of Polish church music, which still delights with its strength and beauty.
This is absolutely wonderful! I am impressed by the composition of Józef Kozłowski. The Requiem in E minor is a true work of art that captivated me from the very first notes. This music perfectly conveys the sadness and seriousness that comes with the death of Stanisław August Poniatowski. Kozłowski uses the voices of the choir and instruments in a magical way, creating an extraordinary atmosphere. I cannot resist the emotions that this composition evokes. I absolutely recommend listening to this piece, even if classical music is not your thing. It is something exceptional that is truly worth discovering.
