This composer was born in Halle (now Germany) in 1685, but at the age of 42 he obtained English citizenship and settled permanently in London. Although he did not come from a family with musical traditions, he was a young talent whose teacher was Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, teaching the boy to play the harpsichord and organ.
Jerzy Maksymiuk was born in Grodno. He completed his music studies with three diplomas: in piano (class of Jerzy Lefeld), composition (class of Piotr Perkowski), and conducting (class of Bogusław Madey).
Initially, he played classical guitar - he studied under A. Kowalczyk in Łódź (diploma in 1979) and J. Tomas in Alicante, Spain, 1980-81. Since 1983, he has specialized in early music playing historical plucked instruments - lute, theorbo, and 19th-century guitar.

George Frideric Handel, the Baroque composer, is primarily known for his rich contributions to serious music. His works are regarded as masterpieces of the Baroque era and are still performed worldwide. One of these pieces is the famous Sarabande, which has now been presented in an original way - in a rock version. In the video, Oliver Hanriot, a talented electric guitarist, takes us on a journey combining Baroque music and rock. The Sarabande, originally written for harpsichord, gains a new sound thanks to the use of aggressive electric guitar tones. Hanriot transforms this classical piece into an energetic and powerful interpretation, giving it a new and refreshing socio-rock dynamic. The presence of the electric guitar in this piece introduces new emotions that simultaneously highlight and expose the original beauty and strength of the melody. This bold interpretation is both a tribute to Handel and a testament to the flexibility and universality of his music. Handel's epochal value as a composer does not diminish in this rock arrangement. On the contrary, it shows how his music is still relevant and can be interpreted in many different ways. It is also proof that serious music does not have to be limited to traditional instruments; it can also find its place in other musical genres, as in this case - rock. This version of the Sarabande constitutes an interesting juxtaposition of two seemingly distant musical worlds. It shows that music can be understood as a universal language that transcends all genre and epoch boundaries. This inspiring and bold combination convinces that music is an eternal treasure that is open to new interpretations and experiments. Olivier Hanriot, utilizing his talent and guitar skills, proves that new perspectives can be discovered in classical works while preserving their original beauty. This wonderful presentation attracts the attention of both serious music lovers and rock enthusiasts, combining the best features of both genres.
It's a great combination of classical and rock! Olivier Hanriot really revitalized Handel's Sarabande on his electric guitar. This version gives a modern character to the piece, adding energy and strength. This is exactly what we need to encourage young people to appreciate classical music. A wonderful way to introduce younger generations to Handel's mastery while also providing enjoyment for rock fans. I'm glad that such combinations are being created and give us new, original musical experiences. It's definitely worth giving this video a chance!
