In episode 32 of "The History of Polish Music," the second volume of the first part of the series was presented, dedicated to Polish music during the medieval period, specifically from 1320 to 1500. In the program, listeners could learn about the works of one of the most important Polish composers of that time - Jan of Lublin. Jan of Lublin, who lived in the second half of the 15th century, is primarily known for his musical treatise titled "The Tablature of Jan of Lublin," which is a fundamental source of information about music from this period. This composer mainly utilized polyphony in his works, which involves several simultaneous musical parts, a characteristic feature of medieval music. His creativity represents the style of late musical Gothic, which is characterized by a mystical and sacred expression. The music of Jan of Lublin is an excellent example of the important role that religious music played in medieval Poland. It was regularly performed during worship services and religious celebrations, and was also used in liturgical theater. It was characterized by a richness of melismas and a polyphonic texture, which gave it an exceptional and solemn character.
