"I invite you to listen to the world's first professional recording of Gaetano Pugnani's Violin Concerto in D Major, a composer and virtuoso violinist of the Classical era"
Currently in Poznań, the XIV International Violin Competition named after H. Wieniawski is taking place. This is traditionally the most important musical event in Poland... when the 'Chopin Competition' is not being held. But are violins, not something more 'sensitive' than pianos? - a more important creation?
This is the smallest string instrument, which originates from baroque violins. However, instruments resembling violins, from which this instrument could have evolved, can be found in many places on Earth...
Established in 2003 at the initiative of instrumentalists collaborating with the New Chamber Orchestra and Warsaw Camerata. Gaetano Pugnani was a prominent Italian composer and violin virtuoso of the classical era. His Violin Concerto in D major is a masterpiece that has only recently been recorded in professional quality by Fabio Salmeri. Pugnani was born in 1731 and was one of the most important violinists of his time. He was valued for his virtuosic skills, but also as a composer. His works are characterized by elegance, melodiousness, and virtuosity, which is perfectly demonstrated in the Violin Concerto in D major. The violin concerto is a musical form that has attracted the greatest creators since its inception. In this case, Pugnani created a work in three movements: Allegro, Adagio, and Rondeau. Each of them presents a different aspect of violin virtuosity - from fast, energetic passages to lyrical and melodic fragments. The classical era, in which Pugnani operated, was an exceptionally turbulent period in music. It was during this time that significant changes occurred in the way music was composed and perceived. Composers began to focus on balance, clarity, and conciseness of works, of which Pugnani's Violin Concerto in D major is an excellent example. The recording of this work by Fabio Salmeri is an extraordinary event, as it is the first professional recording of this concerto. Salmeri is an outstanding violinist who fully captures the beauty and virtuosity of this composition. I invite all lovers of classical music to listen to this exceptional recording of Gaetano Pugnani's Violin Concerto in D major. This discovery allows us to delve even deeper into the magnificence and diversity of classical music, which has become an inseparable element of musical history.
