The name of this musical form comes from the Italian word suonare meaning "to sound". In the past (17th century), a sonata was an instrumental piece for multiple voices and thus became the opposite of a vocal cantata.
One of the three Viennese classics, a representative of late classicism Ludwig van Beethoven had a huge influence on Romantic music. Born in 1770 in Bonn, he had a difficult childhood. His father forcibly wanted to turn his son into a musical genius, so he enrolled him in piano lessons from an early age.
How many classics were there? What a question! - three: Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. But are they the only ones that really matter in the European classical era? It seems so... at least that's what the latest album from Dux, published in the series 'Masters of Eras and Their Works', convinces us of.

"Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven, also known as "Sonata Księżycowa," is one of the most recognizable and influential works of this composer. Comprising three parts - Adagio sostenuto, Allegretto, and Presto agitato - this sonata takes your breath away and immerses the listener in a world full of emotions and mystery. Beethoven, as many of us know, was one of the most famous composers of the Classical and early Romantic periods. Born in 1770 in Bonn, he was one of the most revolutionary and innovative creators of his time. His creativity is incredibly diverse and expressive, and "Moonlight Sonata" is a perfect example of his talent. The first part of the sonata, Adagio sostenuto, is melodic and melancholic. The tempo is slow, and the melody is played smoothly and delicately. It is one of the most recognizable and popular works of Beethoven, touching the souls of listeners with its depth of emotion. The second part, Allegretto, is a blend of lightness and charm. The melody is energetic and full of joy, and the dynamic tempo changes add extraordinary dynamism to this section. The third part, Presto agitato, is the most technically and emotionally demanding. It is full of tension and drama, and the fast tempo and intense keyboard obstacles evoke a tremor in the listener's soul. "Moonlight Sonata" is an excellent example of classical music that continues to move and inspire listeners around the world. Thanks to its exceptional harmony, emotional resonance, and technical mastery, Beethoven became one of the most famous and revered composers in the history of music.
This is one of the most beautiful compositions I have ever heard. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is incredibly beautiful and moving. The Adagio sostenuto is such a delicate and melodic part that truly opens my heart. The Allegretto adds a touch of joy, but the Presto agitato is absolutely unforgettable. The tempo and energy are amazing, making me feel like I am swimming in sounds. Beethoven was a true master, and this composition only confirms that. I love this music and will always listen to it within myself.
