The concert at the Krakow Philharmonic, which took place on April 18, 2012, was an extraordinary musical event promoting the latest album featuring works by Bartók and Kodály. This remarkable collaboration of artists not only provided an opportunity to explore the works of both composers but also opened the doors to the exploration of various musical forms and eras. Béla Bartók, regarded as one of the most outstanding composers of the 20th century, was a versatile creator who drew from various sources of inspiration. His 44 Duets for Two Violins, recorded for the first time in Poland, constitute a fascinating tribute to the tradition of folk music. Bartók masterfully transferred characteristic motifs and rhythms from folklore into his compositions, creating original and emotionally charged works. Zoltán Kodály, Bartók's contemporary and a leading representative of the Hungarian school of composition, was known for using elements of folk music more than Bartók. The Serenade for Two Violins and Viola is one of his exceptional works. This composition is a captivating dialogue among three instruments, emanating romance and virtuosity. It is also important that this concert took place at the Krakow Philharmonic, which is one of the most significant musical centers in Poland. It is a place where great artists meet to share their art and pay tribute to composers, as was the case during this concert. This lavish and ambitious production, dedicated to Bartók and Kodály, beautifully showcases the diversity and richness of classical music. Thanks to it, music lovers have the chance to delve into the creativity of two brilliant composers and transport themselves to the times when their works were created. The recorded event, available on the website www.bartokodaly.republika.pl, is an excellent opportunity for all those who could not attend the concert to experience and enjoy these musical masterpieces. It is composers like Bartók and Kodály, as well as such outstanding artists who perform their works, who make a wonderful contribution to the world of classical music and are responsible for the development of this beautiful musical heritage.
This concert at the Krakow Philharmonic is an absolute feast for lovers of classical music! The recording of Bartók's 44 Duets and Kodály's Serenade is a true novelty on the Polish music scene, and the artists gave their all to deliver genuine emotions. The violin and viola sounded phenomenal, and the performance was full of passion and virtuosity. The Krakow Philharmonic turned out to be the perfect venue for this great event. I am thrilled and eagerly awaiting the release of this album. All I can say is: I highly recommend this concert!
