This is an artist described by John Fordham from 'The Guardian' as 'the excellent Konikiewicz' and by Bogdan Chmura from Jazz Forum as "...one of the most interesting, open and creative musicians of Polish jazz". And not only that - he is a composer and performer of contemporary, electronic, film, and theater music collaborating with artists from many countries - from Japan to the USA; also a member of the Artistic Council of the exclusive American association for the development of improvised music - ISIM and the creator of the Independent Institute of Harmony and Sound. Konikiewicz freely moves through seemingly distant worlds - from solo piano, through outdoor concerts/shows of electronic music for large audiences, jazz ensembles - including the well-known project Tribute To Miles Orchestra - to collaborations with a plethora of Polish (including Ciechowski, Janerka, Lipiński, Brylewski) and foreign (Asian Dub Foundation, Ian Paice, J.J. Burnell) rock artists, as well as composing commissioned works for festivals, opera houses, or radio stations (including Polish Radio). He also works as a music producer and creator of new electronic sounds in many directions (including ambient, noise, trance, techno, IDM, EBM). He has dozens of albums released both in Poland and abroad, which receive excellent reviews in the global (The Wire, Jazzwise, The Guardian) and Polish press. He performs all over the world: in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavia, etc.), America (USA, Mexico), Asia (Japan, South Korea), and Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia). He is also a music and culture theorist: he participates in scientific conferences, lectures, and conducts workshops at renowned universities such as Jagiellonian University, Leeds College of Music, Chichester University & College, Newcastle University, University of Michigan. An essential part of his work is interdisciplinary activities, combining music with visual art, performance, theater, video, pantomime, ballet, and poetry.
