Multiculturalism in Ursus - "On the Side of the Americas: Walking from Panama to Canada" (Cultural Center Portiernia) - tickets

During the meeting, the speakers will talk about their walking expedition from Panama to Canada, during which they covered almost 12,000 kilometers entirely on foot, while climbing the highest peak in each visited Central American country. They will focus not only on their adventures but also on cultural phenomena observed in individual countries. They will paint a complex picture of the Americas seen from the roadside. This is a combination of a travel meeting with live reporting. An event for those who want to listen about travels, but also for those who want to learn about the Americas things that daily escape the media.

The expedition and slideshow received the following awards: National Geographic Traveler 2020 Travel of the Year, Tony Halik Award 2020, 1st place and public award in the Golden Route competition 2021. A book titled "On the Side of the Americas: Walking from Panama to Canada" was also published by Czarne Publishing House. The book won the Magellan Award 2023 and the title of Best Travel Book 2023.

About the speakers:

Ola Synowiec – writer, journalist, Latin Americanist. For nine years she lived in Mexico, about which she writes for Polish and foreign press. She is the author of guides to this country, the Mexico Magico Blog, and the book 'Children of the Seventh Sun: What Mexico Believes' (Czarne Publishing House, 2018). She has been conducting lectures and workshops about Mexico since 2011, also focusing on education about post-colonialism and ethical travel.

Arkadiusz Winiatorski - writer, author of travel articles, and the Stones on Travel website. A travel guide to Latin American countries. A film educator, organizer of cultural and sports events. Addicted to mountain trips, volunteering, and hitchhiking, which he considers the best means of transportation right after walking.

Artistic setting: MUSICAL ELVIS SHOW Performer: Dariusz Przybysz - musician and vocalist with long experience, baritone. He trained operatically and has performed on Polish and foreign stages, mainly in Sweden on cruise ships.
