The Transcription Ensemble Trio was founded in 2007 by Yorgos Kandylidis, Christos Grimpas, and Nikos Zafranas, three successful soloists who belong to the young generation of Greek musicians. They regularly perform as soloists and chamber musicians in Greece and many European countries.
In 2014, the Trio toured Greece and Romania. The musicians performed at Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Athens Megaron, Thessaloniki State Museum of Contemporary Art, at the 'Dimitria' Festival, Nafplion Festival, International Classical Music Festival of Cyclades, Rhodes International Music Days, and at the National Gallery of Athens, Yasar University in Izmir, Madrid Reina Sofia Museum, and London Tate Modern.
In January 2015, the Transcription Ensemble, along with the National Symphony Orchestra of Greek Television, performed the Concert of Bohuslav Martinů broadcast live on the Classical Program of Greek Radio.
During concerts, the ensemble strives to present both famous masterpieces of chamber music and lesser-known works, such as Russian constructivist music and pieces intended for small ensembles.
