On November 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM, a unique concert of the Polish Radio Choir - LusÅawice will take place at the Saski Hotel in Kraków. The event titled 'Searching for Words' is a fascinating fusion of words and music, honoring the distinguished poets Zbigniew Herbert and CzesÅaw MiÅosz.
At the initiative of Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka, the artistic director and conductor of the ensemble, the eminent composer Krzysztof Herdzin has created a series of works for a cappella choir set to the texts of Herbert and MiÅosz. The premiere performance of this cycle, titled 'The Human Voice', will take place during the concert in Kraków.
In his compositions, Herdzin juxtaposes the texts of Herbert and MiÅosz, exploring human existence and its difficult aspects. The cycle consists of 10 songs that balance between jazz and contemporary music.
The second part of the concert will feature the performance of Eugeniusz Knapik's work 'Blue Sea and Eagles' to the words of MiÅosz. This composition, for an 8-voice mixed choir a cappella, draws from Knapik's characteristic language and showcases the full potential of the choir, conducted by Maestro Piotrowska-Bogalecka.
This concert, organized in the spaces of the Saski Hotel, promises to be a wonderful artistic feast.
Reservation of free tickets is possible until November 14, 2024. The number of seats is limited, so itâs worth hurrying!
The event has been financed from the funds of the City of Kraków and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
