SEKUNDA

The characteristic feature of the formation is the fusion of several musical genres, including classical, jazz, folk, and electronic music. Collaborative activities provide the artists with space for free musical exploration. In their compositions, they combine instrumental sounds with singing. The instrumentalists use unconventional techniques of playing the violin, such as chop or strumming. SEKUNDA is a laureate of the most important competitions of folk and alternative music in Poland. They won the 1st prize in the Mikołajki Folkowe 2021 competition in Lublin, the 2nd prize, and the Special Prize of Program 2 of Polish Radio at the New Tradition Festival 2022. In August 2022, they won the main TRYTON award at the FAMA Festival in Świnoujście.

At the concert, the artists will present original compositions created based on traditional melodies. The main source of inspiration for the band has been traditional music from the Beskid Żywiecki and Spisz regions. The music of SEKUNDA showcases the richness of diverse experiences of both artists. The sound of the violin is complemented by singing and instruments characteristic of pastoral traditions: the six-holed pipe, the Lent pipe, and the zbyrcok.
