Looking at the successes of SEA YOU – a showcase presenting bands from by the sea – it’s hard not to agree with the statement that Tri-City is the most important center for the Polish music scene. The fourth edition of the event, focusing not only on talented performers but also on industry professionals, will take place in 2025 under the slogan 'SEA YOU 4EVER'. The program includes concerts, discussion panels, and workshops for young creators.
From April 10 to 12, 2025, we invite everyone for whom music and support for the local scene play a very important role – and who simultaneously want to be inspired and develop their dreams of professional activity in the industry.
SEA YOU 3city Music Showcase is a celebration of the Tri-City music scene, which through three previous editions has diligently presented the potential lying dormant in bands from Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot, and the surrounding areas. The fourth edition of the event, which will take place from April 10 to 12, will not be an exception: in the atmospheric corners of the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdańsk, we will see and hear the most interesting performers from the local scene. Artists who have already broken into the awareness of national listeners and those who are just taking their first steps on the music scene will perform.
Diversity, richness of genres, and the courage to combine sounds in unconventional ways – these are the characteristics that the artists of SEA YOU 4EVER will possess.
The highlight of this year’s edition will be the return of the band Pink Freud – heirs of yass, a group founded a quarter of a century ago by Wojtek Mazolewski. No one combines jazz with electronics or rock music with such energy and freshness as they do. Their experimental approach to jazz has gained recognition both in Poland and abroad. Pink Freud has performed at prestigious festivals and collaborated with many artists in the music scene.
A significant part of the program will be Cinnamon Gum – a project by Maciej Milewski, which combines inspirations from soul and funk from the golden era of the 60s and 70s with analog production techniques. It’s not just music, but also a visual creation that transports listeners into the past, inviting them to jointly explore timeless sounds. Meanwhile, Anastasia Rydlevskaya, originally from Mińsk but residing in Gdańsk for many years, has quickly gained recognition thanks to her unique combination of Belarusian pagan roots, fresh electronic elements, and unusual melodies. She has two highly acclaimed albums to her name and is preparing a third one for spring, from which we will hear material premiered at SEA YOU.
Nath+Expo will present joint premiere material, which will be released in spring 2025. NATH combines hip-hop and alternative sounds and is valued for the authenticity and emotional depth of their lyrics. Expo 2000 has gained fame as a producer of Belmondawg’s albums, and his creative approach to sound and setting new directions in Polish hip-hop and alternative has opened many doors for him.
Sarsa is a vocalist, composer, and producer known for hits like 'Naucz mnie' and 'Zakryj' from the Tri-City. She continues to seek new sounds and artistic challenges. For years, she has attracted attention not only with her hits but also with her authentic personality and extraordinary life story. A unique concert will be played by Remont Pomp and Jacek Prościński. The former is a band playing ethnic, avant-garde, and improvised music, founded in 2003 under the Polish Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities in Gdańsk. They draw inspiration from percussion music, especially African, and experiment with unusual instruments, while the drummer, who performed at SEA YOU as wh0wh0, will play music touching on techno, where electronic pulses lead the way.
SEA YOU is also an opportunity to look at the history of the Tri-City scene. At the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, Oczi Cziorne will perform – a band founded in the late 80s, considered a phenomenon on the Polish music scene. For over 30 years of activity, it has gained the title of 'the first Polish girls band', 'a legendary formation', and 'a legend of the Tri-City independent scene'. The artists are preparing premiere material, which they will present at SEA YOU.
This is just the tip of the iceberg – the SEA YOU program also includes bands such as post-jazz Bled, Quantum Trio, and Hałvva, guitar bands Ivo Shandor & The Gozer Worshipers, Szumal, Trippin’dog, Loveworms, and Kieras, electronic acts Plots, Balzam, and Zismann x Staniu, or singer Przyborowski and Loco Star. And this is not the end of the announcements!
The concerts will be accompanied by meetings with representatives of the national music industry and discussions during panels. It is definitely worth discussing important topics related to taking your first steps in show business, exchanging views, and sharing knowledge and experience. Young creators will have the opportunity not only to present themselves in the spotlight on stage but also to gain valuable knowledge on how to function well in the music industry, how to achieve success, and how not to succumb to pressure. A mandatory point of each edition of SEA YOU is also the exhibition, which elegantly connects music with the visual arts.
