The musical fairy tale The Friend Who Wasn't There, based on the story Lucjan. The Lion That Wasn't There by Roksana Jędrzejewska-Wróbel, is the result of collaboration between NOSPR and the ING Children's Foundation. The story of the main character helps the youngest confront the emotions accompanying them in experiencing life, especially in its most difficult moments. The adaptation of the plot for the musical performance is a joint step taken by NOSPR and the ING Children's Foundation to create valuable and socially engaged productions for children and their families.

The book Lucjan. The Lion That Wasn't There by Roksana Jędrzejewska-Wróbel was published in 2005 at the initiative of ING Bank Śląski. The premiere launched the program In the Company of the Lion, which reached children's hospitals across the country and was based on the beneficial impact of fairy tale therapy on children facing difficulties related to illness. Eighteen years after the premiere, the book still helps children, which shows its universal and timeless character – says Joanna Dymna-Oszek, Director of the Management Office of ING Bank Śląski, President of the ING Children's Foundation.

The realization of the performance is the responsibility of the directing and dramaturgical duo Sławomir Szczurek and Grzegorz Górny, who address important social issues in their works. The creators debuted together with the play Posągowa inspired by the story of the French sculptor Camille Claudel, boldly addressing the topic of mental health. The adaptation of the story was done by Grzegorz Górny, whose drama Ojcze mój found itself among 40 titles qualified for the second stage of this year's Gdyńska Dramaturgiczna Award.
