On November 23, 2024, the world premiere of the opera HI!!!u00c2!!!u00a7TORY will take place at the Polish Royal Opera. This exceptional event will be held at the Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery at the Royal Åazienki Museum in Warsaw.
The opera HI!!!u00c2!!!u00a7TORY is the work of Micha!!!u00c5!!!u0082 Dobrzy!!!u00c5!!!u0084ski, who serves as both composer and librettist. The piece is based on the manuscripts of the play Historia (also known as Operetka) by Witold Gombrowicz, which contain previously unpublished fragments. Copies of these valuable manuscripts were made available by Rita Gombrowicz, the writer's widow.
The direction of the performance has been taken on by Maciej Wojtyszko and Jakub Krofta, and maestro Karol Szwech will be at the conductor's podium. HI!!!u00c2!!!u00a7TORY is a two-act opera commissioned by the Polish Royal Opera.
The opera presents seventeen-year-old Witold, who confronts his own family and society. In the second act, historical figures appear, such as Tsar Nicholas II, Emperor Wilhelm II, and Józef Pi!!!u00c5!!!u0082sudski. The work intertwines personal threads with political ones, creating a grotesque tangle of events and reflections on the longing for freedom from form.
The event will take place under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Ma!!!u00c5!!!u0082gorzata Kidawa-BÅo!!!u00c5!!!u0084ska, and Rita Gombrowicz.
On November 13 at 1:30 PM, a press conference will be held at the Royal Theatre in the Royal Åazienki Museum, which will also feature Professor Mariola Odzimkowska, an expert on the works of Witold Gombrowicz.
More information about the event can be found on the Polish Royal Opera website.
