The author of the play, Salomé Lelouch, is an actress, director, and playwright, daughter of the screenwriter and director Claude Lelouch – one of the most important creators of French cinema, laureate of prestigious film awards, including the Palme d'Or at Cannes, Golden Globe, and Oscar (among others for the film “A Woman and a Man” from 1966).

In the play “No Need to Say That,” Lelouch examines contemporary relationships and conventions. The leitmotif of the play is a question to which the title also refers - should we really speak loudly about everything?

- “It is an attempt to look at how sincerity and freedom function in contemporary partnerships. Do the schematic conventions to which we involuntarily submit destroy what is most important in human relationships - closeness, tenderness, attention? By escaping into the mundane sphere of life, are we unconsciously fleeing from responsibility for the other person? To what extent are we able to accept a partner without imposing our own ideas about what they should be, what is appropriate, what is obligatory? In the continuous movement, resulting from a constant technical revolution, we create new forms of communication, which, however, do not constitute a panacea for the increasingly prevalent sense of loneliness. Lelouch excellently touches on this problem, creating seemingly ordinary stories in which the characters try to find themselves, and new social phenomena provide a pretext to examine the present” – says the director of the play, Jakub Przebindowski.

Lelouch's play seeks answers to the question of how to build a mature relationship between two people that allows for maintaining individuality and different viewpoints – both on everyday trivial matters and fundamental topics.
