Event Description
BANKSY MUSEUM KRAKÃW
On December 14, the Banksy Museum was opened in Krakow's Kazimierz at Berka Joselewicza 21. The museum showcases the work of the most enigmatic artist of our time and offers an extraordinary, multimedia experience of street art.
In the post-industrial interiors of the 1886 Factory of Plated, Silver, and Metal Goods by Marcin Jarry (a collaborator of Norblin), over 150 works by Banksy have been collected in an area of more than a thousand square meters.
Visitors will be guided through various cities where Banksyâs graffiti appeared on the walls: Bristol, London, Lowestoft, Paris, Calais, New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Naples, Venice, Borodyanka, Gostomel, Irpin, Kyiv, Bethlehem... In this way, without the need to travel around the globe, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know Banksyâs works, many of which no longer exist - most of the murals have disappeared: stolen, painted over, vandalized, dismantled, and sold⦠The tour will be accompanied by a street soundtrack, providing a sense of urban movement. Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch films about the mysterious artist and his work.
The creator of the Krakow exhibition, Hazis Vardar, has already organized similar projects combining art and theater in the centers of Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Prague. More than a million people have visited them. The success was so great that the Paris exhibition has already transformed into a permanent Banksy museum. High ratings from experts and street art enthusiasts, along with the number of visitors, allow us to assume that a similar fate awaits in Krakow.
Regardless of the exhibition activities, the museum will conduct educational activities related to street art: workshops for schools and organized groups, as well as curator-led tours.
The initiator and organizer of the exhibitions is Hazis Vardar.
Hazis Vardar is an art manager and an experienced theater director. His activities began in 1994 at âThe Comic'Artâ in Brussels. He then managed many theaters in France and Belgium. In 2008, he bought and successfully managed the legendary âLe Palaceâ in Paris. Currently, Hazis manages seven thriving theaters.
In 2009, Hazis became interested in visual arts, particularly the work of Banksy. In September 2018, he decided to create a gallery in the heart of Paris to organize an exhibition of his works. Hazis's theatrical and directorial experience, combined with the specifics of street art, allowed him to offer the public exceptional experiences, unlike typical exhibitions. This extraordinary endeavor, on the border of theater and visual arts, was named âThe World of Banksyâ and was initially supposed to last only 6 months. Due to the immense public interest and positive reviews from experts, the exhibition became a permanent attraction in Paris, now known as the âBanksy Museum.â
