Marcin ÅwiÄ tkiewicz is one of the most recognizable Polish harpsichordists of the younger generation. His interests focus on historical keyboard instruments, improvisation in both early and contemporary styles, as well as composition. He plays various types of harpsichords and clavichords, as well as historical pianos and organs. As a soloist and chamber musician, he regularly performs in Europe, both Americas, and Asia, often collaborating with Rachel Podger and her ensemble Brecon Baroque, the orchestra Divino Sospiro (Enrico Onofri), Capella Cracoviensis, Arte dei Suonatori, {OH!} Historical Orchestra, Bassociation, the Polish Orchestra of the 18th Century, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, and Scroll Ensemble.
He shaped his skills at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the Academy of Music in Katowice, where he is currently a lecturer. In June 2014, he defended his doctoral thesis on the harpsichord concertos of J.G. Müthel. In 2008, his solo album 'Musikalisches Vielerley' featuring German baroque keyboard music was released by Polish Radio Katowice. He has also made chamber recordings for, among others, Channel Classics, Accent, Linn Records, DUX, and radio stations across Europe.
He is a finalist of the 1st International Harpsichord Competition named after WolkoÅski in Moscow (2010) and the International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg (2007), as well as a laureate of scholarship programs from the Minister of Culture ('Young Poland'), the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, and the Dutch Government (Huygens).
