Legends, techno veterans and young talents, phenomenal Polish duos, a master of elegant electronics, an exceptional live act, sensations from Kenya and Colombia, and an intriguing debutant on the national scene – here is a lineup of artists expanding the program of the XX edition of the festival. Passes and tickets available at https://festiwalnowamuzyka.pl/.
The announcement opens with the duo CocoRosie. For over three decades, sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady have been enchanting the world with their own vision of experimental pop. The authors of hits such as 'Lemonade' and 'Werewolf' have had a profound influence on artists following in their footsteps. Sierra provides vocals, plays guitar, piano, and harp, while Bianca sings and handles electronics. During their concert at TNMK 2025, we will hear material from the upcoming album, 'Little Death Wishes', and the lineup of CocoRosie will be expanded by invited instrumentalists. It will be a magical performance!
Terms such as 'techno icon', 'legendary pioneer', or 'cult DJ' have often been overused in recent years. However, regarding the stars of TNMK 2025, one can use them without scruples. Richie Hawtin is a true titan of the genre, constantly pushing the boundaries of techno, surprising with revolutionary ideas. He will perform in Katowice with a new audiovisual set. DEX EFX X0X debuted at Movement Festival in Detroit and at the Sónar festival in Barcelona last summer. In June 2025, it will be presented to the Polish audience for the first time, specifically at Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice. The name refers, of course, to the iconic 'Decks, EFX & 909' from 1999, but the artist achieves an even higher level of musicality, improvisation, and complexity. '– DEX EFX X0X continues my personal explorations of improvisation using modern technology, resulting in a unique narrative of playfulness' – announces Richie Hawtin.
Jeff Mills embodies the most important values of techno in every aspect of his career – innovation, irresistible power, openness. He is the creator of the iconic 'The Bells', the author of the soundtrack to Fritz Lang's famous 'Metropolis', and a pillar of many projects connecting techno with jazz, classical music, and ethnic music. Mills consistently stays ahead of his time. His music is both futuristic and originally tribal, danceable and abstract. Similarly, Ben Sims remains one of the most exciting techno DJs. He is a true master of playing with 3 to 5 decks at once. During the 20th edition of the festival, the veterans will be joined by the newest resident of Berghain, Fadi Mohem, who, despite his young age, is increasingly marking his position on the techno scene.
In June, Alva Noto will also perform in the Culture Zone. He is one of the most respected figures in glitchy, minimalist electronics. He is known for his soundtrack to the film 'Birdman' directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which he co-wrote with Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Their music has received nominations for awards such as the Golden Globes, BAFTA, Grammy, and Critics Choice Award. In Katowice, Alva Noto will play a surprising audiovisual set.
More pop sounds will be provided in June by the Austrian duo HVOB, sometimes called 'one of the best live acts in the world'. Vocalist Anne Müller and producer Paul Wallner are known for their exceptional live performances and dreamy songs that blend techno with electro-pop. Meanwhile, young Polish vocalist Julia Rover will invite fans on a musical journey from soothing cold wave tones to catchy 80s synth-pop hits. More exotic sounds will be provided by Ela Minus, a singer-songwriter, producer, and performer from Colombia, who will perform with a live set, and Kabeaushé from Kenya. This former member of the Nyege Nyege collective presents a colorful and wild mix of pop, hip-hop, and electronics. The current program is complemented by the Polish duo Mermaid Chunky, representatives of the iconic DFA label. Their audiovisual creation is one big party, a collective dance, and improvised chaos with pumping rhythms.
This is still just the beginning of the announcements. Soon, more secrets of TNMK 2025 will be revealed. It’s worth securing your entry ticket today!
The festival is sponsored by Tauron Polska Energia. Co-hosted by the City of Katowice.

CocoRosie
For over three decades, Bianca and Sierra Casady have been present in the musical avant-garde of experimental pop, influencing countless artists. The name of the group is a combination of the nicknames given to them by their mother. CocoRosie was born as a duo when both sisters met for the first time after years of separation in Paris in 2003. Sierra provides vocals, plays guitar, piano, and harp, while Bianca sings and handles electronics. During their concerts, the lineup of CocoRosie is expanded by invited instrumentalists. Sierra Casady is a classically trained opera singer and theater actress, while Bianca Casady has organized several solo art exhibitions, directed several experimental theater productions, is also a published poet, and teaches a regular course in experimental poetry.
CocoRosie has released seven studio albums to date, the latest being 'Put The Shine On' from 2020. CocoRosie has also composed original soundtracks for four feature-length theatrical works by acclaimed director Robert Wilson (Peter Pan, Pushkin's Tales, Edda, and The Jungle Book), with another project in progress. CocoRosie has also collaborated with Kronos Quartet at their Jazz Festival in San Francisco for two seasons, creating a new collection of songs that will become a joint album with Kronos Quartet.

Richie Hawtin DEX EFX X0X
One of the most important artists on the world techno scene. He was born in the UK but grew up in Canada. His family moved to Ontario in 1979 when Richie was nine years old. His father, a robotics engineer, encouraged his son to take an interest in music and technology. To this day, Hawtin remains at the forefront in both fields. He continually pushes the boundaries of his own creativity, introducing as many new ideas and experiences as possible. He has gained recognition not only as an innovative DJ and producer but also as a co-founder of Beatport, and the media call him 'one of the intellectual forces of the electronic music world'.
Hawtin's debut recordings saw the light of day in 1990, and in 1993 the world first got to know his most famous alter ego – Plastikman. The raw techno of the early career evolved into increasingly experimental, futuristic rhythms, eventually transforming into a reduced essence of minimalism. After moving to Berlin, Richie Hawtin became the father of one of the most popular trends in techno of the 21st century. Throughout his career, he has produced dozens of albums, singles, and EPs. He is also the founder of very influential labels – Plus8 and MINUS.
Since the beginning of his career, Richie Hawtin has been at the technological forefront. As a beta tester for Ableton Live sequencing software since 2000, he has closely collaborated with Native Instruments, especially on their Final Scratch program. He is also a pioneer in using wifi to connect electronic instruments during live performances. In 2004, he was a co-founder of Beatport, the largest store for electronic music files. The artist believes that art and music, architecture and music, painting, sculpture – these are 'media that live together'. He recorded, among others, a soundtrack for the Winter Olympic Games in 2006. He has created for films, exhibitions, and has blurred the lines between visual arts and music. He was commissioned to write a new soundtrack for the silent film 'Brumes d'automne' (1928) by Dimitri Kirsanoff as part of Bertrand Bonello's exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Jeff Mills
A respected and highly influential artist from Detroit. One of the biggest names in techno. The cosmos is his obsession, and his music embodies the future while respecting the past and remaining in the present. As a teenager, he began playing as a DJ, becoming known under the pseudonym The Wizard. As a founding member of Underground Resistance, Mills helped build the catalog and ideology of the label in the late 80s and early 90s. He then moved from Detroit to New York and then to Chicago to continue his solo career. In 1992, he founded his own label Axis. A breakthrough in his career was his full-length album 'Waveform Transmission, Vol. 1' from 1993 for the Tresor label.
His incredibly intense DJ sets, often using three or four turntables or CD players and a drum machine, have become legendary. The creator of the iconic track 'The Bells' has developed a minimalist aesthetic of Detroit techno in his work, focusing over time on more abstract conceptual releases. Jeff Mills has produced albums inspired by classic science fiction films, such as his soundtracks from 2000 and 2023 for Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis' and a series of records inspired by jazz and world music (e.g., the album 'Wonderland' from 2022 and the project 'Tomorrow Comes The Harvest'). He has performed and recorded with symphonic orchestras, such as on 'Blue Potential' with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra. Mills consistently stays ahead of his time. His music is both futuristic and originally tribal, danceable and abstract. In every aspect of his career, he embodies the most important values of techno – innovation, irresistible power, openness.

Alva Noto
One of the most innovative and respected figures in glitchy, minimalist electronics. Known for his visual works and installations, as well as audio releases and multimedia performances, his works explore minimalist aesthetics, focusing on basic sine waves or light patterns that often arrange themselves into intensely complex sequences. He is actually named Carsten Nicolai. He was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1965 and has since established himself as an artist operating at the intersection of music, visual arts, and science, exploring minimalist aesthetics. In the early 90s, Nicolai moved to Berlin. He founded the experimental label Noton.Archiv, which, after merging with Rastermusic, created the famous Raster-Noton. Carsten Nicolai is best known for his soundtrack to the film 'Birdman' directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which he co-wrote with Ryuichi Sakamoto. Their collaboration began in the 90s during Carsten Nicolai's tour in Japan and continued for decades. Together with Sakamoto, he recorded a series of projects. Their music has received nominations for awards such as the Golden Globes, BAFTA, Grammy, and Critics Choice Award. Alva Noto's music echoes in this artist's visual creativity. Carsten Nicolai's installations are characterized by minimalist aesthetics, incredibly intriguing due to their elegance and consistency. He has participated in important international exhibitions, such as Documenta X and the 49th and 50th Venice Biennale.

Ben Sims
One of the most exciting talents in the techno scene. Ben Sims is a DJ who has remained true to funk, groove, and the beginnings of electronic music while continuing to nurture its development over the last 25 years. Raised on the sounds of hip-hop, reggae, soul, house, and rave in the 80s, he played a huge role in defining British dance music in the 90s. He remains a passionate promoter of new music and also of emerging producers and DJs through his numerous events, record labels, radio shows, podcasts, and constant touring.
As a DJ, Ben Sims captivates attention both visually and musically. He plays using 3 to 5 decks; his hands, faders, effects, and equalizers overlap, creating a dense and rapidly evolving collage of sounds. Regardless of whether he is playing for 50, 500, or 5000 people, this unrestrained energy and commitment to the art of mixing never weakens. Sims is considered one of the true masters in the industry, both by DJs and partygoers.

Her love for synthesizers has become the foundation of her musical creativity. Her debut album 'acts of rebellion', released on Domino Records, was one of the albums of the pandemic and a staple on BBC Radio 6's A-list. Fadi Mohem
The newest resident of Berghain/Panorama Bar. Raised in the suburbs of Berlin in Spandau, Fadi Mohem developed a passion for electronic music in his youth. Exploring the city with an interest in graffiti and urban culture, he took his first steps as a DJ and producer in 2011. His studies in sound engineering and subsequent work as a mix and recording engineer gave him a set of technical skills that improved the sound of his own productions. He remains heavily influenced by early Detroit techno and Berlin dub techno, drum'n'bass, and IDM. As a producer, DJ, and live performer, he loves to break patterns and boundaries.

HVOB live
An Austrian duo known for their exceptional live performances. Their creativity oscillates around dreamy songs that blend techno with electro-pop. The group was founded in 2012 by vocalist Anne Müller and Paul Wallner, both from St. Pölten. The name HVOB stands for 'Her Voice Over Boys'. The musical career of the Austrian duo quickly gained momentum, breathtakingly. Anna Müller composes, produces, and also provides captivating, hypnotic vocals. The production of the songs takes place in collaboration with Paul Wallner in his Vienna studio. The songs are carried by rather restrained and minimalist melodies, stylistically situated somewhere between house, electronic music, and pop. After four studio albums and one live album, HVOB released their sixth album in 2022: 'TOO' is an angry, tender, sensitive, and determined story about a generation searching for life.

Julia Rover
A singer, songwriter, and DJ living in Poznań, known as half of the duo Bliss Kiss. Her creativity is a musical journey through diverse sounds – from soothing cold wave tones and catchy 80s synth-pop hits to nostalgic retro-pop ballads evoking romantic memories and club sounds. At the end of 2024, Julia released her debut EP titled 'Co z Tobą?' under the iconic label The Very Polish Cut Outs. The musical layers of the release were handled by the trio FTP: Freux, TAMTEN, and Pejzaż – recognized producers associated with the label, whose logo features a distinctive rooster. The track 'Sen' made it to the top ten of the best Polish songs of 2024, while other pieces from 'Co z Tobą?' regularly featured on playlists of stations such as Radio Nowy Świat, Czwórka, Kampus, 357, or Trójka. A global highlight was placing the EP in the TOP 10 Global Charts 2024 of the prestigious American radio KEXP. Julia's full debut is set for late 2024, and she has been active in the music scene since 2021. She has collaborated with Rat One from Rat Kru, recording singles and regularly performing on various stages in Poland (including Next Fest, FAMA). The year 2025 promises to be a breakthrough in her career. Julia, along with two producers Freux and Tamty (responsible for much of the material from 'Co z Tobą?'), plans an intensive concert tour during which she will present both songs from her debut EP, new compositions, and older pieces in new arrangements.

KABEAUSHÉ
A talent of global proportions, ready for a worldwide explosion. Kabeaushé is Kabochi Gitau from Kenya. His style is a crazy mix of pop, hip-hop, and electronics. He owes much of his career to Nyege Nyege – a collective from Kampala, Uganda, which also runs a festival, studio, and record label. Initially, Kabeaushé's music was described as the complete opposite of the hardcore, twisted electronics of his contemporaries from the label. However, after a joyful, pop-inspired debut album, the lines are no longer so clear. The artist's new material, released by Monkeytown, incorporates more rawness, strangeness, and rave energy. This is partly a result of experience playing at eclectic festivals around the world and being influenced by all kinds of radical music, but even more so, it is an expression of the wild energy of Kabeaushé's performances. Anyone who has seen the artist perform will understand this immediately. His performances are something more than just a concert; they are a celebration, a connection, a party where the audience gets what they give. Kabeaushé is modern pop energy, but also something deep, ancient, and profound. These same feelings resonate through the album 'Hold On To Deer Life, There’s A Black Boy Behind You!', conveying a sense of urgency and energy in every atom of sound and lyric of the album. It is music created by defiance against the adversities of fate, negative energy, and hatred. Kabeaushé's star shines ever brighter, and the global club and festival audience is falling in love with him.

Mermaid Chunky
Sometimes everything is hidden in the name, just as much as in the duo's creativity. 'Plump Mermaids' consists of two artists, Freya Tate and Moina Moin from Gloucestershire, UK. Their audiovisual creation is one big party, a collective dance that becomes even better with more people, ideas, and layers involved. Mermaid Chunky is improvised chaos with pumping trance rhythms and excited saxophone solos. One of the tracks from Mermaid Chunky's debut EP 'VEST' caught the ear of James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem, who invited the duo to support his concert at Brixton Academy in London and subsequently offered them a contract with his DFA label. Mermaid Chunky has also performed live with The Comet Is Coming, Alabaster DePlume, Snapped Ankles, and many others.
