The story of Cio-Cio-San, a geisha who gives her heart to a sailor, is the quintessence of opera and simultaneously a masterpiece in the oeuvre of Giacomo Puccini. This multi-dimensional tale not only brings out what is most valuable in the opera genre but also makes the audience aware of the paradox of love. The music keeps the audience in emotional tension throughout the performance until the tragic finale, in which a true explosion of feelings occurs.
