The only strictly family, professional string quartet in the world. It consists of: father - cellist Wojciech Walasek and his children - violinists Emilia and Wojciech and violist Kamil. The deep musical traditions in the Walasek family date back to the 18th century. For over two hundred years, there was the Walasek band, operating in Kazimierz nad Wisłą and Janowiec - the most beautiful corners of Poland, and the last leader of this musical group was Wojciech's father - Jakub. These musical traditions in the Walasek family are consistently continued.
Senior Wojciech - professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, laureate of many prestigious international chamber music competitions - together with his children create a world-famous ensemble that has performed in the USA, Asia, and many European countries. He has recorded four CD albums with compositions by Polish and foreign composers (including compositions written specifically for the Walasek quartet and dedicated to him). The ensemble is an animator of musical life in the right-bank Warsaw. In his family parish of Miedzeszyn, he organized the Easter Chamber Music Festival for the tenth time.
Here are some excerpts from opinions about the ensemble: “The noble sound of the WALASEK quartet - is the sum of the artistry and artistic experience of the senior of the Walasek family Wojciech Walasek with the high technique, youthful temperament, and musical zeal of his daughter Emilia and sons Wojciech and Kamil.”; “(…) The possibility of creating a family string quartet at a very high level certainly appears as a unique phenomenon on a global scale.”
