Once again, it was the listeners, not the organizers, who arranged the concert program, which is the second concert of the fourth series 'Warsaw Camerata à la carte!'.

The audience decided that the program of the first of this year's concerts of the 'Warsaw Camerata à la carte!' project would feature Polish and Danish music for string orchestra.


Performed by the Warsaw Camerata under the direction of Paweł Kosa-Nowicki, the concert will feature: Symphony No. VI in G major, Op. 38 by Asger Hamerik, the world premiere of 'Antes y despues' by Jerzy Wołochowicz, and 'Concerto for Oboe and Strings' by Sebastian Krajewski, with soloist Marek Roszkowski.

These compositions come from different eras and were created by composers belonging to various styles. Therefore, the concert will be an incredible combination of many musical currents and a wide palette of colors from the string orchestra.

Danish music rarely appears in concert programs, making the performance of Symphony No. VI in G major by the Danish composer Asger Hamerik, who was active at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a great treat for music lovers. In his work, he referred to the French music of H. Berlioz, C. Franck, and P. Ducas. He was later even compared to Mahler.

A highlight of this concert will also be the world premiere of 'Antes y despues' by Jerzy Wołochowicz, who is the author of compositions for solo cello, as well as theatrical, film, and advertising music. He collaborated with Roman Polański on the Oscar-winning film 'The Pianist'. One of his compositions was selected for a documentary about President Barack Obama and published by Time Magazine. He also collaborated with the outstanding documentarian Christopher Morris. He was an assistant to composer Jerzy Maksymiuk and editor of music for the film with Pola Negri 'Mania, the story of a cigarette factory worker'.

The third piece worth knowing is the 'Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra' by Sebastian Krajewski. The composer studied under Włodzimierz Kotoński at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
He is a creator of music that is fundamentally non-avant-garde, often referring to musical styles of past eras. He is also a composer of film and theatrical music as well as songs.

As always during the concert, the audience will vote on musical surprises that will be included in the à la carte menu. After the music, we invite you to a traditional cocktail meeting with the performers and discussions about music in a unique atmosphere.

The concert will take place on June 7 this year at 16:00 in Warsaw's Praga, at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes at ul. Wileńska 69.
