The musical features four women in the 'menopausal' age. All of them have problems they must deal with. We want to show that menopause is part of a woman's life - the heroines performing on stage, but also the women sitting in the audience - have had, have, or will have it. It is a difficult time for a woman, which does not mean it is hopeless. The awareness of a community of certain experiences is important - the women in the audience learn that their ailments are not something exceptional. Although menopause affects all women, it is an embarrassing topic, and as a result, it is carefully avoided.
Through the performance, we want to illustrate, in an understandable, accessible, and humorous way, how various ways can help cope with it. Some heroines want to undergo hormone replacement therapy, others fear it and choose herbal remedies, while others go for yoga or gym exercises. The play aims to showcase these various behaviors, always in a humorous way - especially since humor is an excellent medicine (without side effects). By laughing, we find it easier to endure life's adversities.
The actresses are not afraid of humor, they are not ashamed to play characters in middle and older age. They are well-known media figures who can entertain and touch the audience. They show that women can be active and creative, having fun and connecting to the advanced age. No one, like another woman, understands the sufferings experienced during this time. Hence the popular 'women's' meetings where one can talk about 'embarrassing' topics that are difficult to discuss with men or children. We believe that the problems of menopause are best characterized by the initial text that women 'rap' at the beginning of the show. The performance aims to show that every woman has her own good way to deal with it all. The most important thing is for this topic to stop being a taboo, so that it can be discussed. Important topics do not have to be presented seriously, which is why humor is so important in the performance.
Cast of the performance: Elżbieta Jodłowska / Grażyna Zielińska / Ewa Cichocka / Renata Zarębska / Joanna Jeżewska / Katarzyna Kozak
In the play, in a humorous way, we talk and sing about hot flashes, which for many women is something embarrassing. Here we hear the melody of the song 'Kuba wyspa jak wulkan gorąca' and the heroines sing: 'I feel the hot flash again O-la! E-ja! As if I touched the sun with my forehead, the tropics ignite me.' The pursuit of perfection sometimes comes at a huge cost, the heroines describe in the song: 'I can’t catch my breath anymore... And the success is already here... My coach promised me, Staś, that when I lose ten grams... it will be...'. These women are aware of the passing time, which does not spare them, but they do not intend to be discouraged, they willingly accept it as something that is part of every woman's life who crosses the milestone of 50 years. A wonderful comedy - one of the most frequently performed in recent years on the stages of theatres all over Poland! Tickets available at: KupBilecik.pl
