The artist was born in WrocÅaw and began her musical education here as a violinist, and later vocal studies at the Academy of Music in the class of Prof. B. E. Werner. Joanna Klisowska subsequently completed a baroque singing course under the direction of C. Ansermet (Milan) and a two-year postgraduate study with distinction at Musikhochschule Trossingen in the early music department, training under Ch. Hilz and M. K. Kiehr. The soprano also worked under the guidance of the well-known Polish singer Jolanta Å»murko, and participated in numerous courses on the performance of baroque music led by, among others: G. Banditelli, P. Kooija, B. Schlick, J. Christensen, L. Brunmayr-Tutz, and others. Joanna Klisowska specializes in the performance of Baroque and Classical music. Her interests also include French music from the late 19th century, song, and contemporary music. The artist conducts an active concert activity collaborating with, among others, C. Astronio, G. Capuano, R. King, B. Kuijken, L. Ghielmi, V. Luks, P. Nemet, P. Neumann, M. Schuldt-Jensen, M. Toporowski, Ch. Toetem, R. Vettori, as well as with ensembles: Accademia della Arcadia, Artsemble, Bozen Baroque Ensemble, Il Canto di Orfeo, Collegium 1704, Divina Armonia, Immortal Bach Ensemble, Stuttgarter Vocal Ensemble, Mitteleuropea Orchestra Barocca, La Verdi Barocca. The soprano has performed at festivals such as: Festival Ambronay, Rheingau Musik Festival (Germany), Wratislavia Cantans (WrocÅaw), Settimane Barocche (Brescia), Musica e Poesia a S. Maurizio (Milan), Festival Hendlowski (PoznaÅ), Festival Internazionale di Danza e di Musica Antica (Milan), Festival Brežice (Brežice), Festival di Musica Barocca di Rovino (Rovinj), Festival Mozart (Rovereto), Settembre in Musica (Florence), Musica Antiqua (Bolzano), Forum Musicum (WrocÅaw), Maj z MuzykÄ DawnÄ (WrocÅaw), International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music (WrocÅaw), Musica Elettronica Nuova (WrocÅaw). She performs throughout Europe. She also conducts pedagogical activities and master classes. For the past two years, she has been a juror at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Antica held in Pienza (Italy). Joanna Klisowska, along with G. Capuano and the ensemble Il Canto di Orfeo, is in the process of recording all of Carissimi's and Rossi's oratorios. Her discography includes the recently discovered Oratorium Musicum 'Der Mensch ein Gottesmörder' by L. Mozart under the direction of Claudio Astronio, recorded for Amadeus (Italy) with the Bolzano Baroque Ensemble (C. Astronio) and the motets of F. A. Bonporti recorded for the Austrian ORF (Alte Musik). Currently, the artist is preparing to record a new album presenting repertoire for soprano and bass with the participation of P. Kooija for Stradivarius (Italy).
