Polish composer. Since 1992, she has been living in Warsaw and Arnhem (Netherlands). From 1980 to 1986, she studied composition under WÅodzimierz KotoÅski at the F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. From 1986 to 1988, she continued her composition studies with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. She participated in composition courses organized by PTMW and in the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. Since 1989, she has been working as a freelance composer, fulfilling numerous commissions and benefiting from creative scholarships. She also gives lectures at various music institutions, conservatories, and courses. In 1990, she was a guest composer for the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) in Berlin for a year. In 1998, she was invited as a guest lecturer at three universities in Los Angeles. In 1999/2000, she served as composer-in-residence at Het Gelders Orkest in the Netherlands. In November 2000, German Radio in Cologne organized her monographic concert (released on the CD 'Arcs & Circles'). In 2004, she was a lecturer during the Other Minds 10 festival in San Francisco. She participated in the jury work during the Münchener Biennale in 1995, Gaudeamus Music Week 2002 in Amsterdam, and the IX International Kazimierz Serocki Composition Competition in Warsaw in 2004. She was also invited to the jury of the VI edition of the International New Chamber Opera Competition 'Orpheus-Luciano Berio 2003-04' in Spoleto. In 1985, she received the second prize at the European Competition for Young Composers in the Netherlands for the piece 'Ad unum', and in 1987, the Artistic Award for Young Artists named after StanisÅaw WyspiaÅski (second class). That same year, she won the second prize at the ZKP Young Composers' Competition for 'Ride'. She is also a laureate of composition competition awards organized by the Warsaw Branch of ZKP - for 'Quinto' (first prize, 1986), 'Breathe' (first prize, 1987), 'Cannon' (third prize, 1988), and 'aaa Tre' (second prize, 1989). In 2003, she achieved first place at the 50th International Tribune of Composers UNESCO for 'Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra', as well as the Mozart Medal from the International Music Council at UNESCO.
