Aphkhazeti is an exceptional combination of Georgian dance, deeply rooted in the traditions of this nation, with contemporary choreography and music. This ensemble has a history of nearly 100 years, officially founded in 1931, and it continuously performs around the world, bringing to audiences all that is most beautiful in Georgian culture - tradition, folklore, and incredible energy.

The war in Abkhazia and the subsequent Russian occupation of the entire region forced the artists to move their base to Tbilisi in 1992, but despite the difficulties, Aphkhazeti has retained its character, skills, and unique color! In March 2021 - with the arrival of a young and talented artistic director, the legendary Bachan Chanturia - a new chapter in the history of the ensemble began. For many years, he was one of the principal soloists of the National Ballet of Georgia Sukhishvili, and he utilized his experience and talent to create new choreography for traditional dances. He invited renowned Georgian composers, and together they prepared a unique musical accompaniment, and it is this program - Choreonicon - that will be presented in Poland!

Aphkhazeti features traditional fragments of Georgian music in a completely new rendition, performed by a live orchestra, as well as spectacular dances from various regions interpreted by the legendary Bachan Chanturia! The innovation has been so groundbreaking that in the last two years, the ensemble has performed in many regions of Georgia, also touring outside its borders.
