On July 27 (Saturday) at 19:00, there will be a concert by Saleem Abboud Ashkar at the Szczecin Willa Lentza. This exceptional event will take place as part of the series 'Fryderyk Chopin at Willa Lentza. All Works'. On Saturday evening, we will have the opportunity to hear the outstanding pianist from Nazareth.

'Fryderyk Chopin at Willa Lentza. All Works' is a concert series aimed at presenting all works of Fryderyk Chopin. The event organized by Willa Lentza in Szczecin started in January 2024 and will continue over the next months to bring closer the creativity of Fryderyk Chopin. As part of the series, Willa Lentza has already hosted: Jakub Kuszlik, Ewa Pobłocka, David Serebryanik, Sławomir Wilk, and Kevin Kenner.

During the July edition of the series, the world-renowned pianist - Saleem Abboud Ashkar - will perform. The artist's story is incredibly interesting. As a seventeen-year-old, he was discovered by the outstanding conductor - Zubin Mehta, who offered him the opportunity to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Ashkar began playing the piano under the guidance of his relative from Lebanon and later under the tutelage of Ari Vardi in Tel Aviv. He continued his education at the Hanover Hochschule für Musik und Theater and at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the guidance of Maria Curcio.

Since his performance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Saleem Abboud Ashkar has performed with some of the greatest and most important orchestras in the world, including: the Vienna Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica della Scala, Concertgebouworkest, Gewandhausorchester, and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in St. Petersburg.

It is worth emphasizing that at the age of 22, he debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York, and subsequently at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, London's Wigmore Hall, Salzburg's Mozarteum, Vienna's Musikverein, and Brussels' Palais des Beaux Arts. He has also participated in numerous festivals, including: BBC Proms in London, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, and Salzburger Festspiele. He continues to perform regularly with legendary conductors such as the aforementioned Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Muti.

PROGRAM

Saleem Abboud Ashkar will begin his recital with Fantasia in C major, Op. 17 by Robert Schumann. In this way, the musician likely wants to remind the audience of Schumann's two meetings with Fryderyk Chopin, which took place in 1835 and 1836. Additionally, the pianist will perform two Nocturnes in D-flat major, Op. 27 No. 2 and C minor, Op. 48 No. 1, as well as Scherzo in B minor, Op. 31 No. 2 and Sonata in B minor, Op. 58 No. 3.
