Duo del Gesù was founded in 2010 by violinist Arnaud Kaminski and violist Krzysztof Tymendorf. While both instruments â violin and viola â have enjoyed an enduring popularity for centuries, and their combined sound has been appreciated by great masters such as Mozart, Haydn, and Martinu, the presence of such a string duo on the Polish music scene is an exceptional phenomenon.
The artists were born in different parts of Europe: Paris and Warsaw. They met at the StanisÅaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in GdaÅsk, where their shared passion â the pursuit of musical perfection in the interpretation of works by both great masters and forgotten or underappreciated composers, such as Ignaz Pleyel, Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Robert Fuchs, Charles Koechlin, and Philipp Scharwenka â brought them together. In 2011, they successfully toured Germany and Italy. In 2012, they plan to present themselves to the French audience during a tour of that country. The duo is also interested in collaborating with contemporary musicians and improvisation.
Currently, the young artists have collaborated with !!!u00c2!!!u00a0 the outstanding Polish virtuoso of electronic music WÅodzimierz "Gudonis" Komendarek, working on new musical material, in which the sounds of string instruments
merge with experimental and !!!u00c2!!!u00a0avant-garde music. The fruit of !!!u00c2!!!u00a0this collaboration is set to be an album.
