The inspiration for Didi Hamper's debut album 'Kamieniem' was her everyday life, all its ups and downs, successes, coping and not coping, and observations of herself and others. During her eternal search for self-acceptance, in times when we must define ourselves at every turn, evaluate, and determine, she found solace in a phrase she heard somewhere in the Netflix series - 'each of us lives the best we can at that moment in life'. This is also what this album is about.
She has always read a lot of poetry, which is why the album includes several songs with lyrics by wonderful poets: Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska and Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer. The music is a mix of various genres. Accompanying her on the piano is jazz pianist Oskar Stabno, who is also the album's arranger. The rhythm section is filled by Kasia Szmidt-Przeździecka on double bass and Władek Rajewski on drums. The realization/mix/mastering of the album was done by Joachim Krukowski. The recording was made at the Radio Poznań studio.
BIO
Didi Hamper is a musical discovery of 1994 when she captivated the audience and the jury of the competition in her hometown Śrem with the song 'Kwiaty we Włosach' by the band Czerwone Gitary. Following up on this success, while studying at Primary School No. 5 in Śrem, in 1995 she won the Grand Prix of the Krzysztof Klenczon and Żuki song contest in Poznań. She won a television for her beloved school, receiving a Sony Discman herself. At that time, she already knew that a musical career lay ahead of her. More awards and accolades came to her easily, most of which she does not remember, but she still recalls the Festival of French Song in Lubin
where she won 3rd place. The winner of 2 awards at that time was Ms. Anna Dereszowska, for whom Hamper held a sweater behind the scenes in the finals. To this day, she feels the velvety texture of that garment
while watching Ms. Anna on television. At that time, she loved the French language, but today she only remembers part of her formula for the French family during a school exchange: '...jador musik, je detest lekol, mą szię sapel Ali…' :)
She also participated in the Talent Show Idol, but being a young, rebellious high school student, she decided not to learn the song that was imposed on her, thus being eliminated from the program.
From 1993 to 2000, she was a multiple champion of the Baltic colonies in ping-pong.
Didi is a vocalist, composer, lyricist, and opera singer.
She is a graduate of the vocal department of the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. She sings classical music in mezzo-soprano, but she has chosen a different artistic path. She began to write and compose to truly be herself.
In her free time, she writes poetry. Her favorite time of day is dawn. She is a proud owner of a dog of the most beautiful breed, named Tosia.
