Aleksandra Kurzak started learning to play the violin and piano at the age of 7. She graduated with honors from the Vocal Department of the Academy of Music in Wrocław and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. During her studies, she made her debut as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro at the Wrocław Opera, alongside her mother and teacher Jolanta Żmurko as the Countess.

She is a laureate of competitions in Warsaw, Helsinki, Barcelona, and Canton. In 2009, she defended her doctorate in art.

She has twice received scholarships from the Minister of Culture and Art, as well as a scholarship from the Crescendum Est - Polonia Aleksandra Gudzowatego foundation. She also received awards from the Mayor of Wrocław, the Voivode of Lower Silesia, and the Wrocław Music Award.

From 2001 to 2007, she was associated with the Hamburg State Opera, initially in the International Opera Studio for the first two seasons, and later as a soloist at the opera. She performed roles such as: Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Blonde (The Abduction from the Seraglio), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Gilda (Rigoletto), Nanetta (Falstaff), Ninetta (Love for Three Oranges), Musetta (La bohème), Laura (The Ridiculous Prince Jodelet), Maria (The Tsar and the Carpenter), Adela (Die Fledermaus), Anusia (The Marksman), Maid (Powder her face), Marcelina (Fidelio), Cleopatra (Julius Caesar in Egypt), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Donna Fiorilla (The Turk in Italy), Maria (The Daughter of the Regiment).

At the age of 27, she made her debut at two of the world's most prestigious operas. At the Metropolitan Opera in New York, she played the role of Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann, receiving great acclaim from New York music critics, who unanimously spoke in the press about the sensational debut of the Polish singer, and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, in the role of Aspasia in Mozart's opera Mitridate, Re di Ponto. Aleksandra Kurzak returned to the MET performing as Blonde in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Gilda in Rigoletto, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, and as Adina in The Elixir of Love. Since her London debut, the artist regularly returns to the Royal Opera, which has become almost her home theater. She also appeared there as Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in The Elixir of Love, Susanna, as well as the title role of Matilda in Matilde di Shabran by G. Rossini, achieving a real triumph on that stage, and most recently as Donna Fiorilla in The Turk in Italy, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Gilda and the title character Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor.

In 2010, Aleksandra Kurzak made her debut at the famous Teatro alla Scala as Gilda and returned again as Susanna and Adela in Rossini's opera Count Ory.

Aleksandra Kurzak also performed at the Deutsche Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin as the Queen of the Night, at the Teatro Regio in Parma and at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse as Gilda, at the Salzburg Festival as Donna Anna, Anusia (The Marksman) and in a concert with the Mozarteum Orchestra (concert arias by W.A. Mozart), at the Mozart Festival in A Coruña, and at the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff (Aspasia), at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo as Norina, at the Teatro Massimo di Bellini in Catania (concert with arias by V. Bellini), at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as Cleopatra, Adela, Rosina, Fiorilla, Adina and Rachel, at the Vienna State Opera as Rosina, Adina, Susanna, Maria, Violetta and Gilda, at the Lyric Opera House in Chicago as Blonde, at the Teatro Regio in Turin as Violetta, at the Theater an der Wien as Donna Anna and Amenaide, at the Arena di Verona as Rosina, Juliet, Gilda and in a Gala of G. Verdi, at the Los Angeles Opera as Fiordiligi, at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia as Adina, at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki and at the San Francisco Opera as Gilda, at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Susanna and Maria, at the National Opera in Warsaw as Gilda, Violetta and Lucia, at the Teatro La Fenice as Donna Anna, in Zurich as Gilda, Norina and Nedda, in Seattle as Lucia and at the Paris Opera as Adina.

Aleksandra Kurzak has collaborated with conductors such as: Ivor Bolton, Bruno Campanella, James Conlon, Sir Andrew Davis, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Riccardo Frizza, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, René Jacobs, Fabio Luisi, Nicola Luisotti, Sir Charles Mackerras, Ingo Metzmacher, Daniel Oren, Antonio Pappano, Carlo Rizzi, Ralf Weikert, Simone Young.

Aleksandra Kurzak, as the first Polish woman in the history of vocal art, signed an exclusive recording contract with DECCA.
