Soprano Angel Blue portrays the Ethiopian princess whose heart is torn between love for a man and love for her homeland. The new production directed by Michael Mayer transports audiences inside the majestic pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt through intricate projections and stunning animations. In the cast, alongside Angel Blue, is mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi as Aida's rival, Amneris, and Polish tenor Piotr Beczała as the warrior Radames. The Metropolitan Opera's music director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, will take the podium to lead the orchestra during the cinema transmission on January 25.
